Covid-19: The need for clear communication

Sep 30, 2020

In the midst of a global Coronavirus pandemic, with communities have to wear face masks, for those with impaired hearing the need for clear communication has never been greater, here’s why:

  • There are over 50,000 children in the UK, with hearing loss
  • There are over 12 million people in the UK who are deaf or have a hearing impediment
  • There are over 460 million in the World who are deaf or have a hearing impediment
  • There are over 50,000 children in the UK, with hearing loss
  • There are over 34 million children in the World, with hearing loss
  • 40% of people, in the UK, over the age of 50 suffer from some level of hearing loss
  • 70% of people, in the UK, over the age of 70 suffer from some level of hearing loss

Conventional masks that obscure the face restrict facial expression, which is vital for communication, especially for lip readers.

The anonymity that comes with a PPE traditional mask, can potentially cause anxiety and even fear amongst much of the community at large, including older people, and anyone suffering from dementia, as well those in customer-facing roles such as shop workers..

Our PPE masks are made from anti-fogging plastic and latex-free elastic attachments. The design avoids any obstruction or interference with spectacles or hearing aids.

Our PPE Clear masks are available in Adult and Kids sizes.

The PPE Clear mask can improve communication and the quality of life right throughout the community.
